The Hundred Dresses: Day 67

This is a contemporary pattern, simplicity 2180. (You may keep in mind my rant about the difficulty I had trying to buy it as a downloadable pattern.)

I did ultimately buy the pattern (in a routine store) as well as make it, like so:

It’s material I bought about ten lawns of (at $1/yard) down in LA years as well as years ago. I truly like it, since I don’t truly like it, if that makes sense. It’s fantastic material for making trial versions out of, since I am happy to wear the end result however not depressed if I have to wad the whole thing up as well as throw it away. (I should have bought 20 lawns …)

I was somewhat overambitious with this very first trial version. You can checked out the original blog publish about it here.

I do like the lines of this pattern, although I didn’t recognize the top part of the bodice would be so stand-offy from the neck:

Here’s the side zip:

And a better view so you can see I still have basting thread I haven’t pulled out:

And the back piping, which I’m not happy with at all, however which is usually hidden under a cardigan, anyway.

Here’s the full back view:

I did make the gown one more time (just to be SURE) however on the whole I’m a bit “meh” about it. The skirt isn’t rather as full as I like (for full variety of movement) as well as I ended up not liking the neckline as much as I believed I would. Oh well, online as well as learn. perhaps I requirement to make it one more time to be absolutely sure. In pink gingham?
